ehhh, i read that the "take it immediately after you workout" is a marketing ploy....which honestly makes sense for these companies like muscle milk, etc.

And usually, it upsets my stomach if I take it right after b/c then I eat about an hour and it just doesnt settle well. I'm gonna start doing it before bed or early in the morning

it is

theres alot of broscience when it comes to sports nutrition

but the actual timing of when you eat after strenous activity isnt that set in stone

ideally the sooner you get some protein in your bloodstream the better but it aint gonna destroy your gains if you have to wait 2 hours from the time you lifted

The suggested serving size is more of a marketing ploy (1.5 g/lb, 2 g/lb etc). There is some science behind increased lbm in relation to protein surrounding workouts (before and after) but there is also the IIFYM school of thought of just hit your daily macros it doesn't matter what time you eat or take it.

It's not an exact science but it is easier to get in the habit/routine of taking in a shake post workout than randomly consuming it whenever.

The 30 mins post workout scheme seems like sketchy broscience, I doubt it matters if its 1 min - 2 hours p/wo, if you hit the correct protein macros daily.

there are scientific studies that actually fasting after a workout increases your natural HGH production and increase in lean muscle, ill dig for the study

stuffing your face with food is overrated and outdated

Props.

So if I weight 185 lbs, what is the real suggested serving size?

Props.

So if I weight 185 lbs, what is the real suggested serving size?

"Strength training athletes need about 1.4 to 1.8 (0.82g/lb) grams per kilogram (2.2lbs) of body weight per day"

If cutting I'd use 1.8 which would put you around 150 if you do the math. When bulking I use my goal weight (kgs) in the equation and multiply by 1.5 or 1.6.

Think the misinformation is mostly from people following diets of bodybuilders mega dosing with steroids, that is where the excessive protein numbers like 1.5g/lb 2g/lb, 3g/lb come from.
