What would black music be like without James brown?:jbhmm:
GREAT POINT..........but he's from Augusta,Ga. Anybody who listens to his music has heard him shout out the town he grew up in.

I was trying to find evidence of this idea that Boston was rocking New Balance early.
If that were the case, there would be photos of Boston acts rocking New Bals...

Don't ever remember New Edition rocking NB

Same. NB may have started in Boston as a company but as a street fashion staple? That’s always been more of a DMV thing and later spread to Bmore and Philly. Never associated NBs with Boston.

His main studio was in Atlanta, and he broke his records at Royal Peacock on Auburn Ave in the heart of Pink City. Dude would literally play them there first to see how the public perceived it. He also died in Atlanta, same hospital I was born in. The music infrastructure he put into place (engineering, equipment, knowledge etc) was the foundation later groups from the city like SOS Band built upon to make they sound and later get on. That’s huge. Cuz if wasn’t for that it would’ve been been some kid in ‘85 ATL with music dreams having to hop on a greyhound and go to NY to make it big. Little things like that are what helped foster local talent.

And he shouted out ATL plenty times on records-
