So I'm thinking about getting a dog.
But I've heard shady things about some places not treating animals the right way.

What's a good place to start?
A pet shelter?
Individual seller?

Where did you get your dog?

I mean if you're a bleeding heart go to a shelter...
if you got money to spend and want the best of the best
go with a breeder/kennel

plenty of them online.
You think dogs from a shelter are tougher to train?

not necessarily tougher but they can be. It's like adopting a kid.. he can be an angel... or he can be a sociopath with tons of issues. Dogs from shelters can also be more suceptible to genetic issues that are common with the breed. Where as breeders will try to breed those traits out.

If you want a certain type of dog then go with a breeder. If not, shelter dogs are a good way to go. Dogs generally take some time to train in general. You may get lucky and find one that knows the basic commands and may be trained to use the bathroom outdoors when you get it.

Sucks man.
People get so emotionally attached to their pets.

How long did you live in Morocco?

He was like a member of the family.

I lived in morocco 3 times for about 1 year twice and once for 2 years. We had stayed for a year and decided to move back stateside... but there was some complications with taking him back home. This dog was the shyt, he was abnormally strong.... back when he was younger he accidentally ingested this flower that was a psychoactive drug. shyt came on the news that it was growing in peoples yards... turns out he was eating that shyt everyday.

Always wanted to visit Morocco.
A little unsure about how tourists fare there. It's heavily muslim, right?
I don't know much about the culture and wouldn't want a faux pas to get me into trouble.
