Saw him perform tonight - he was off the chain

Man couple years back, I was visitin my sister in Nashville, and Jay was doin the Blueprint 3 tour. I had heard some J Cole songs like grown simba but had no clue what this nikka looked like. Dude got on the stage, and we were all kinda clownin askin who the fukk was this nikka, then he got into it, and everybody was like "WHO THE fukk IS THIS nikka" cause he was killin it. Knew who it was when he did Grown Simba tho. Show was live.

He didnt produce In The Morning neither did he do Dollar and a Dream III, I admittedly have heard the album like twice and I didnt really fukk with it. He has some dope beats but I dont think he's good enough to the point where he should be producing damn near entire 16 track albums ALL by himself (except for a couple tracks). When you look at other rapper/producers like KRIT and Kanye they shyt on what J. Cole does. Like I mentioned before even a person like Kanye whose production without any external assitance shyts on Cole's and he gets help from talented musician, I dont see why Cole fails to do the same.
1. Krits album was weaker than Coles.
2. Please don't say Krit and Kanye, they are not on the same level.
3. You can't understand why A rookie like Cole can't fukk with a goat like Kanye? interesting.

He did co-produce D&AD III, he didn't produce In the Morning or that song with Trey Songz. But he did produce the rest of the tracks. Mention his wack beats on FNL, every beat is perfect. His beats being wack is just some weak ass trend that few nikkas are talking about. Every rapper has to catch some hate for something, or you ain't really doing anything right.

just random ass songs from his mixtape and albums.

We can go as far back as Kanye's first album to compare and the production on College Dropout as a whole>>>>>>>>>>>Cole World. As far as K.R.I.T I wasnt comparing him to Ye, I was comparing him to J.Cole and K.R.I.T beats >>>>Coles and both their albums didnt really sit well with me. For me I tend to put rapper/producers in a high level of regard because I think it takes an exceptional talent to do both effectively but it doesnt only take exceptional talent but the help of others. I feel alot of ppl have this "I wanna do it all by myself" mentality (I dont know Cole personally so I dont know if this is what he thinks) but it doesnt work that way. Look at Dre he cant rap but he has ghostwriters help him in this weak area, hell he even has the aid of producer in production. Kanye is the same way I had help with writing from Fest, Cons, Glc, etc also has help from production and thats why he's able to put out amazing product. To me there was just something lacking in J.Cole's beats on his album, I cant necessarily put my finger on it. Even HiiPower is a good beat (But it was largely carried by Kendrick's performance imo). My thing is if he's going to be a rapper/producer then he should really "Produce" (which is alot more than just making a beat). Im actually looking forward to his next project to see what kind of growth he has. Maybe in his first album he didnt have the budget to do some of things he may have wanted or some of things Im suggesting. I know Kanye personally pays out of pocket (I think to the tune of 3milly for MBDTF) to get what he wants out of his projects. It takes a really special talent and teamwork for a rapper/producer to pull off a great album, something that I didnt see in J. Cole's album.

Id like to add to not make it seem like Im just getting at J.Cole. The direct opposite of him (talented rapper, to me ehh producer). Would be ChaseN.Cashe, Hit-BOy, and Mike Will (all talented producers and either ehh rappers (Hitboy) or just trash altogether(ChasNCashe)). I believe all three of them are trying to rap, what I would tell them from what I've heard is just stick to producing they aint that nice at rapping. Its just some ppl can do both some ppl cant.

Dude still eating off his first album and I don't blame him. You only get a few chances and dudes wil drop their 1st album and start working on the next a month after that. They just started playing "Nobody's Perfect" heavy in dallas and alot females jammin it like its new so might as well eat good of that single.

I am waiting for that Kendrick and J.Cole mixtape though. Sh!t should be dope.

I didnt really like the album (was a big fan of FNL tho) but idk what you expect from him tho. He's touring, I hear that Missy single on the radio quite often. nikkas doing what he should be doing.

Whatever he's doing tho Im going to need him to do less of this tho:

Like seriously somebody needs to tell this nikka to stop producing and stick to rapping, or at least dont give away his decent beats to other artist (HiiPower). Thats probably the biggest thing that killed his album for me were his beats, they just weren't cutting it for me. At least Kanye West gets help with his beats (Mike Dean, NO ID, Jeff Bhasker, Jon Brion. And Im not dissing Kanye at all here, actually this is how music should be made but I digress). But hey he got more money and some success now so hopefully he can figure it out.

:wtf:
:stopitslime:

He should stop making dope beats ? :smh:
That vid was dope breh

He's doing what these rappers should be doing but ain't: working hard. Touring, recording music, making connections.

I just hope he gets some better production for the next LP. Sideline Story sounds so...empty production wise when compared to Take Care, Section 80, etc. It just doesn't take any chances imo and just feels boring. You can only rap over clean pianos and weak drums for so long..

Just Blaze could make a classic with Cole
