Astronomy (8th light)
Led by California Legislative Black Caucus Chair Dr. Shirley Weber, today the California Assembly voted to approve AB3121 - Task Force to Study and Develop Reparation Proposals for African Americans and move the bill to appropriations - ADOS represented in strong person and on the phone in testimony. Great Win Fam! Shout out to Chris Lodgson of ADOS Sacramento and the the entire ADOS California team (ADOS L.A., ADOS Bay Area, ADOS San Diego) that is working with Dr. Weber on getting this bill passed.

I thought we didn't need anymore studies? :dwillhuh:
it's way too much work for these dudes to actually watch the videos, it's easier to bytch and moan like a couple bytches in heat
 Until a muhfukka like me comes around and then the only rebuttal is "You're obsessed"

Do we watch the videos or not? :hula:

Yvette spent like half an hour centering Minneapolis and Louisville on immigrants and Ilhan Omar. Nevermind the fact that we live in a racialized white supremacist police state. Never mind the fact that the sitting president (Not FORMER president Obama) is upping the ante and deploying military personnel on citizens. Make it make sense

ADOS is real and a lot of people have been putting in real work across the country, If you look you'll see.

With Yvette and Tone being the leaders its very easy to see how that can run people off. They've contradicted themselves on issues many times and often use the celebrity as a crutch for clicks. Also the constant lashing out at anyone who doesn't do or say things their way is very disturbing . But again ADOS people are putting in work.

We are not trying to clout chase off of George Floyd's death, also not trying to hijack the BLM marches.

Many of us are working within our NAACP chapters, trying to get them to embrace the idea that the Dem nominee must address a black agenda and policies to close the racial wealth gap. Also many of us have been trying to get the NAACP and the CBC to think of black businesses (many did not qualify for bailouts) during the Corona Virus crisis.

The NAACP is talking that same old tired nonsense "just go out and vote". They are failing to take advantage of this current momentum generated by these protests to push for programs previously thought of as impossible (Reparations).

So I have a question. What response did you get from your local NAACP? And what is the next step?

Yvette, Tariq and their followers on here had all the smoke in the world for the Somalians in Minneapolis, calling them c00ns and what not. Guess who was out there turning up for brother George and black people in American? Those same c00ns, not Yvette.

claud anderson is dated.

I'm not getting this from the stuff I've been hearing from lately. Because what he talked about in the 90s has accelerated in the 2010s does it mean that he's dated. Not to mention the way that she attacks him was very very disrespectful.

I definitely thought her and the dude Tone or whatever his name is would've been out front center protesting on front lines

They been quiet. Doesn't really make sense.

I don't see why you have a problem with black Americans circling the wagons.

Just like we rode hard for amadou diallo, we were protesting out there too :comeon:

In times of injustice we always come together, that's not a problem...but when it comes to networking and building the discussion changes doesn't it. not on ADOS's end either. :coffee:

I don’t have a problem with you circling your wagon, I have a problem with the tactics your leaders chose to go about it. Publicly acknowledging your history in America and demanding tangible resources for yourselves, the reparations you’re owed, and equal justice for your ethnicity is one thing. Degrading other groups in the process is another. The flip flopping and goalpost moving is another.
