People ain't interested in hood movies anymore so they don't get too much work.

Larenz Tate was on Rescue Me recently, so he might have some money saved up.

Mehkis best role was his first one.

Larenz Tate is a top 10 blacc actor alltime imo.

Sean Nelson, idk really, maybe he did want a normal life.

Omar Epps gave us the most classics.

Definitely up there on the list.

His brother was pretty good too.

Even in that role in Dont Be a Menace, I knew dude was pretty good.

Damn shame theres not more of a place for black actors these days outside of a Tyler Perry film

Problem was at it's heyday (late 80s to mid 00s), black actors refuse to branch outside the typical hood/ drama/ hip hop film, outside of a few like Will Smith and Denzel. With limiting themselves, Hollywood adapted the "all or nothing" mentality during the last several years where its either a big blockbuster film, or straight to DVD. And guess where the black actors who stayed in their typical roles went to? Certainly not remaining on the silver screen.

That what happens when people don't take chances anymore.

:childplease:

They "refuse to branch out"?!? What? Those are the ONLY roles they are offerred, sir.. LOL It has nothing to do with "taking chances", 90% of Hollywood movies seek white male leads. That's EXACTLY why a half assed actor like Channing Tatum can have 10 major flops under his belt and STILL be pushed into mainstream films like 21 Jump Street.. minority actors don't get that type of treatment in hollywood, period.

you telling me that black folk in Hollywood couldn't put their money together and make a film that was out of the ordinary? Despite being a drama, black actors gave $$$ for "Malcolm X" to be made. There could definitely have been more effort on that end.

And many of them actors themselves believed that black audiences were not (and still not) ready for a black sci-fi film.

Real talk, a lot of these cats are better than the black go to guy (Anthony Mackie) ..... and more handsome too (no h*mo)

Allen Payne and Larenz Tate are top tier actors, and its good to see Bokeem Woodbine in the new total recall.

You went from blaming black actors for pigeonholing themselves to blaming them for not pooling their money together and making a 'different' kind of film :beli:

its one in the same, actually. When you pigeonhole yourself, you limit your money and not think outside of the box to do something different.
