The nuance has changed since Puff was active as an artist (and supposed deviant.)
Surprised many more celebs ain't been outed with the legal requirement ending or maybe we're just hearing his name due to being in the community.
What hasn't changed is the same headlines recycled daily from those on the outside looking for angles and something to talk about.
As someone who was around in the 90's I know Puff has actually survived more than most but he's older now and has more to lose.

And he hasn't posted at all since Puff got locked up.
