I’m glad WWF got away from that weird ass random shoot style promos that did frequently back in 97. It was cool for ECW who had a more hardcore neckbeard audience. But most WWF fans didn’t know all that insider shyt like Golddust martial problems or how Undertaker was a loyal transitional champion to guys who wound up leaving. Didn’t Jarrett go on to do that terrible NWA angle with Cornette after this?

so he was in wcw in 1996? i dont remember that :mindblown:

Lol yea, he was a Four Horsemen member, with Debra at his side (I can’t remember if she with with Mongo first or Jarrett, but she ended up with Jarrett back in the WWF anyway)

That NWA angle needs a detailed revisit, cause I have no idea how it started, nor how it ended, but it seemed to exist almost separate from everything else in the WWF :mjlol: I remember the New Blackjacks splitting up and Bradshaw feuding with Barry Windham, and the Rock N Roll Express interfering in matches. It was so weird

You can do a lot worse than Jeff Jarrett both talking wise and wrestling wise lol. Saying he's trash at either is an exaggeration, but pushed way farther than he should have been?? Most definitely.

youre judged by the level youre playing on. he wanted to book himself among the greats and ended up totally exposed. his whole career is the evil monkey paw version of what happens when you chase a 'missed opportunity' and never let it go. if he stayed in his lane, people would have a much more forgiving view of him.

Jim Cornette doing those rants on DX being bad for the wrestling business, people branding themselves as icons, & blah blah blah. Basically he wanted to bring tradition back to wrestling so he brought in the NWA.

I believe Jarrett was supposed to just go out there and bury Bischoff and WCW but instead, he kinda went into business for himself and ambused Vince with that shyt about Vince not being able to put Jarretts dad out of business and that (according to rumor and innuendo) pissed off Vince and it wasn't a coincidence that before too long Jarrett's little push ended and he was back to dressing like a cowboy and riding a damn horse down to the ring. :mjlol:

Yeah, Russo claims he did it for 2 reasons, one to just shut Jim up by giving him the type of wrestling he wanted and two to prove to Jim when it didn't get over that no one wanted to see that type of wrestling anymore and that he was out of touch with the current audience. Sort of similar to why he said he started the Brawl for All to shut up Bradshaw.

Cornette's rants got over and were getting pops from the crowd when they were played on the titantron but no one wanted to see that horrible half assed version of the NWA during the damn attuitude era.

He talks about the horrible version of the 'new' Midnight Express here

I thought he was never officially a member

I forgot he went back country before teaming with Owen and the women beater gimmick. Wasnt either the Harris twins or the Godwin’s his stable and they were called hard justice or some wack shyt. Damn Jarrett sucked. He is so lucky that he was able to follow Russo and stay relevant. He’s Shane Douglas with blonder hair
