My favorite rapper/producer. Off top, only Q-Tip and Kanye are the only ones who can match him when it comes to elite talent with the lyrics AND beats

I’ll co-sign @Mr. Negative tho. It would be dope if he just pivoted to R&B, funk and jazz and embraced his talents on that. He’s got so much heat in the catalog outside of rap

Top 10 producer of all time.

He'd be somewhere in that 6-10 range on my list.

I don't think he's top 5 or 3 like some of y'all saying, unless you're a West Coast person, you probably feel he's the greatest or at least second behind Dre. At best he's top 10-15.

One of the best musicians in rap. often misunderstood. one who is actually deserving of a genius title unlike another fallen producer. and his rapping skill was always underrated too. Quik had wit and humor in his music that was punching above most ranked rappers.

The first time i got aware of him was in the rhythm-al-ism era. i was actually thrown off by how smooth the music was juxtaposed against the shyt dropping then. the perms also in 98 were otherworldly and far removed from the 80's. i was not ready

had to leave it alone until it connected with me somehow. then i came back to it. after which i explored his output as an artist and producer. being outside and hearing let's get down shut down parties at the end of the night quite often was a treat. he was funky but not in the typical west coast style. I consider him raps ultimate triple threat, rapping, producing and engineering. Dre gets more credit as a mix wizard but they are not in the same lane. Quik could make a loud dynamic beat bang without choking the dynamics with the limiter to death as he did in his 2001 era being one of the biggest proponents of the loud wars. louder wasn't always better.

I use Quik as a benchmark for sound excellence when mixing. there's a few choice cuts of his i will call upon for this task. Sorry for the long form answer but the listeners passion is reflected by the passion of the creator... In Quik
