Absolutely a classic.

Very powerful film, its brutal and real. Edward James Olmos is excellent...stand and deliver might be his best performance butthis come close. He also did a very good job directing and its just a great film start to finish...the ending is beyond brutal and sad.

top ten film of the 90s for me. :whew:

Man I gotta rewatch it but hell yea it was brutal. I think it was a perfect depiction of what it would be like for a convict to be released from prison when its all he's known in his life. Not built for the real world.

No doubt...the realness of the prison as well, they filmed on location with real immates. it basically just shows where u end up when u join gang. and how it recycles generation after generation like it cant stop no matter what u do. theres no escape.

interesting idea, brutal and cynically effective, but kinda lags as a movie in some parts

the fact that the gang was co-founded by a croatian dude is hilarious to me. i wonder if they beef with russian mob brehs in prison on some solidarity shyt

finally About to watch on Netflix, I’ve heard about this for many years. The intro sounds like a intro on a rap album but I can’t remember?

Ice Cube? Lench Mob?

Some of the dialogue is used on Tupac’s ‘Death Around the Corner’
