He's been at the top of the business for a very long time :manny:

If people say he's not in their personal favorite that's completely fine. It would be inaccurate (like him or hate him) to say that as a professional wrestler (spoiler alert to all of the marks...it's a scripted TV show and these "superstars" are actors and characters not professional athletes) that his accomplishments and longevity compared to other professional wrestlers lands him outside of the top 20.

theres personal fav's and where he should be if this was taking all things into account. i think he will be higher on the latter on almost everybody but none the less. i liked him when i watched total divas, his done a few good things, but to me he will always not be good enough ( i really blame his ring attire) its just not serious.

TOP 40.

Kayfabe accomplishments don' matter..they chose to have him win 16x and have a year reign as fans REJECTED him. Houseshows numbers and ppv buys went down. He's no difference maker.

Flair
Road warriors
Goldberg
Warrior
Hogan
Macho
Austin
Bruno
Freebirds
Andre
Jake Roberts
Eddie Guerrero
Nwo
Undertaker
Bret Hart
The Rock

Cena isn't a real name fans out right chose Bryan and Punk over him..in humiliting fashion. Chose Wade and Lita over him too.

It's hard to say honestly. He's improved tremendously over the years in the ring. He was the face of the company for a very long time. But he was also the face of the company during an extremely mediocre period in wrestling. And since he's dropped the rapper gimmick as part of his character, his character has shown zero growth and that not only hurt him but also is a reason for the mediocre era.

He kept the industry alive after the attitude era passed so I rank him pretty high

He lost points though for never showing what he really looks like. :/

Why are you quoting me?

"Kayfabe accomplishments don't matter"... those are the ONLY accomplishments that there are :mjlol:

Fan choice is a funny metric and it's funny that it matters in small doses.
Yes Fans chose Daniel Bryan and CM Punk over Cena... but Cena was in WWE before both of them and after both of them.

You can't have Bruno on the list but then discredit John Cena's longevity. That's silly.

The Freebirds
NWO
Road Warriors

You're naming TEAMS. That's a dumb comparison.

It seems like your only "bar" is getting over. Goldberg was over as hell for a few years. Maybe the strongest run of all time (arguably) but Goldberg is NOWHERE near the top of the list. The fact that he is on your list is laughable. Your list has Hogan on it twice for fukks sake. I'm no wrestling Historian, but I can tell you that mathematically speaking, there aren't many names who have been as relevant as Cena's for as long as his name has been wrestling. And in a business where people flame out (injury, fan interest, steroids, drugs, death, boredom, inability to get over) he's had a top 20 resume.

This is also the thing I have a hard time with in ranking Cena.

You can tell dude had an all time great heel run in him by the angst and bite he has in his promos when he's invested in the angle or opponent.

He was a damn good heel while still finding his voice as the rapper.

What happens if seasoned Cena had the opportunity to show that versatility

I get why they didn't turn him since that little kid money is hard to turn down in an era where he was one of the last of the "bigger than the company" type of character

It muddies his historical standing a bit since other than maybe Bruno who else went as long as a top guy like Cena has with little to no variation to their character

Longevity has to take into account the ability to reinvent or adjust to era changes and they just always tried to stays so neat and safe with the guy.

Tell me the inside information you have about all of the arenas The Fabulous Freebirds filled up?
Jake the Snake?

How many matches of Bruno's have you seen to equate that he was a fantastic performer?

Your shtick is tired and your argument baseless.
