Too $hort, Mac Mall, E-40, Dru Down, Rappin 4-Tay, Ant Banks, etc. They were wack as fukk.

Whenever one of their videos came on it was time to grab the remote. See what's up with Sportscenter...Ricki Lake...Darkwing Duck or something.

If anything the same thing happened with Hyphy music and its dance, the Jerk movement in LA jacked a lot of its moves and beats from turfin/hyphy and made it international.
Jerking wuz different than turfing

and all of that originated from pop-locking which started in Oakland and Long Beach around tha same time

I'm half black and half Indian....Bermudian/Guyanese. You could've just asked first before you spoke out of ignorance.
This explains everything

This why I got a problem with these black immigrants claiming "black" y'all is culturally out of touch, you wouldn't get tha music cuz you not African American, you have no roots, mentally your a cac..with darker skin

They? I'm not mixed at all. Black on both sides and proud.

I never said Oakland had no black culture, just that in present day it's weak compared to the media portrayal and history since the southern migration. I also never said Oakland didn't have any crime, just that high crime in the bay area is a myth in general. Oakland crime is high by SFBA standards, in general it's low to average.
Where you getting your facts from?

Oakland crime is high by SFBA standards? No it's high by nationwide standards, and that how you it's very high because for a city to be in "well off" California and still have a higher crime rate than cities in tha mid west let's you know Oakland crime is high period

I'm not an immigrant. Lol@there needing to be an explanation for someone not liking music that no one else outside your locale likes.

Kool Herc was Jamaican btw. :heh:Reach harder.

That's exactly the point I made earlier, the roots of Hip Hop culture are not African American.

It didn't take very long for African Americans to dominate the culture but New York's style is heavily Caribbean influenced to this day.

The New York Hip Hop scene never fukked with the Hip Hop scenes in the rest of the country like that unless nikkas made music that sounded exactly like them (i.e. Common, Lupe, Hiero, Cypress Hill, etc). When you compare the music they don't like to each other - UGK, E-40, Do Or Die, etc. - the commonalities stand out:

- Heavier bass lines
- Heavier focus on melody
- Less focus on rapping about rhyme skills, more Bluesy subject matter
- Heavier use of P-Funk elements

This isn't by accident.
