This is a chicken/egg argument. If the DH was never created, most pitchers would be able to hit. The idea of pitchers as "specialists" is silly. They should be the most important players on the team. Not only stopping the other team from scoring, but producing runs themselves.

Like they're not hitting at the lower levels? There's no DH in the lower levels. Pitching becomes specialized at the higher levels.

how does that change what i'm saying? If they're hitting at lower levels, the game shouldn't change moving up

I love that I stated several reasons why the DH is better but all the NL homers just said how someone who can't field shouldnt bat. They literally have no reason why DH should not be inserted in the NL besides that the AL games go to long which could be avoided if the Umps actually did there jobs and pushed the game along faster.

as a fan how can u say youd rather watch a pitcher hit than the dh

hitting>>>>>>watching a pitcher get groundouts and k's 98% of the time
If the DH ceased to exist, then pitchers would hit better. The problem with this aspect of baseball is that pitchers should never become solely "specialists" and should hit like everyone else. Is this tough to grasp?

you answered your own question -- if you can't field you shouldn't bat.

But why if you are an elite hitter you should be able to show off your talent even if you lack the ability to field.
well how about designated Free-Throw shooters in basketball? Just send your "elite" FT-shooter to the line on ALL ATTEMPTS. I mean, people pay to see the ball go through the hoop. :manny:
