When was the best time for Undertaker to retire?

We all know Undertaker stuck around way longer than he should have, so when do you think he should have just packed it up and ended his career?

For me, it will always be 2012. The end of an era, the culmination of a four-year storyline with Shawn Michaels and Triple H. Retiring after 20 WrestleMania victories, in the last memorable Hell in a Cell match. He could still go at that point, so he would have had a couple more matches left in him. Just not enough to keep going. That shot of him, HBK, and Triple H at the top of the stage is a true WrestleMania moment. It was the last Undertaker match that felt meaningful in any way. No disrespect to Punk because he gave Undertaker his last classic match, but there were no stakes to it. Especially since there was no chance in hell Punk was ending the streak.

2012 was pretty much perfect but I dug the story of the streak ending and him getting his payback on Brock the next year, as those matches were good as fukk. Redeem himself for the streak loss, then ride out.

I'm not going to lie. Dude should had retire in 04 when he ended demonic Kane. Like imagine both dudes beating each other to a pulp and Taker gets the pin. Only to realize that demonic Kane was too much for him to keep going.

The Roman match. Nothing good came after that and he didn't need to retire right after the streak ended. The abrock matches after it were good, so was the Shane match. But the Reigns match was the perfect sendoff.

I stopped watching during some period of end of 2004- 2006 in my early 20s and remember upn smack down was on in 2007 I was at a friends house and I saw undertaker and thought to myself damn he’s still wrestling and he’s champ thinking he’s an old man like I watched this guy wen I was a kid into my teens. Come to find out he’s still havin classics

The way the Brock feud painted Taker as a sore loser had me . He sat at home for over a YEAR then finally said "fukk it. I'mma go get this nikka". They backfired hard trying to make Brock the ultimate heel post WM30. Taker was the one getting boos when he returned.
