'It Was Written' was the best album he's made in my opinion. '96 is lyrically when he peaked. When you are competing with 2Pac, Biggie Smalls, Mobb Deep, Busta Rhymes, LL Cool J, A Tribe Called Quest and The Fugees then you have to be conditioned to try and be the illest emcee.
