the black cat is my crown...
when? sometime in the year 2023.... i can't pinpoint the actual date but... a 49-year-old nasir stumbled down some stairs and fell off .... the album that came out later that year was straight boo boo.. everything he released before that though, was g.o.a.t status!

Nas fell off now? Really? Dude put out arguably the best album of the year, and another successful sales album and now he fell off? The only point in Nas's career where he was in any danger of falling off was between Nastradamus and Stillmatic and even then that was debatable.

When I started seeing him in those Willie Esco ads in Vibe Magazine. :scusthov:

But, honestly it was looking bleek around the QB Finest era.

People said he fell off between the I am... and Nastradamus era of his career, but he was still putting out great music during that time, a lot of his Lost Tapes session was during that time, Doo rags, no idea's original, blaze a 50, tales from the hood, I honestly think Nas fell off commercially not critically, during that time span.

Depends on if your talking about LYRICALLY because he's never fallen off. People have to remember he threw Nastradamus out there due to his I Am being bootleg into oblivion and for that reason we got "Big Girl" :sadcam:

but for the most part, it was after Nastradamus came out

He admitted he freestyled most of Nastradamus. Clearly from the lyrics, you could tell he was putting the same intricacies he did on Illmatic and IWW. Guess, he was :eat: too good and got fat and comfortable. Until the :scusthov: had to be put back in his hooves. :pachaha:

It sucks Biggie got killed, if Biggie lived the beef between him and Nas would have kicked off and kept him on top if Nas was gonna drop quality diss songs against Biggie.

BIG would have kept Nas on his toes and he most likely wouldn't have had a down period in his career.

Jay Z was weed carrier status when Biggie was alive, dude was gonna be in Biggie's rap clique the commission, throughout Hip Hop history how often has a rapper in a major rapper's clique went on to have major success?

G unit, Roc a Fella artists (Other than Jay ), Foxy Brown, etc, all had OK careers and didn't have that much success. If Jay wanted to be where he was at today with Biggie alive and he would have had to be his own man and not in another rapper clique.

Its crazy as most Hip Hop heads can agree that the time period after IWW to Stillmatic was a down period for Nas but arguably his most popular mainstream songs (Hate me now and You own me) came out during that time period.

Life we choose, Quiet nikkas, Project Windows, We will survive was dope.

Nas never fell off, but there was a time when his peers were arguably making better music than him.

Raekwon & Prodigy from 95-00 were as good or better than Nas post IWW.

Noreaga was more exciting.

Mega was more anticipated.

Jay was making better commercial music.

Redman was more consistent.

Then Ghost dropped Supreme Clientele and had arguably the best catalog in rap at that time (see Redman).

Nas didnt find his way again until the back and forth with Bleek started.

doo rags, and no ideas original are stillmatic cuts

but anyway. nas made a lot of his best joints in 99. fetus, project windows, ny2, poppa was a player, you gotta love it, find your wealth, sometimes i wonder, small world, undying love, amonst kings, drunk by myself, seeds of heaven, rise and fall, life we chose, ghetto prisoners, favor for a favor, nas is like, etc all either unreleased or on albums. it's honestly his best time period overall, with a few terrible songs(you owe me, big things, dr.knockboot, big girl, you wont see me tonight).
