When and how did you first dabble into Online Forums?

I remember being on a discussion board for tamagotchis when I was in 5th grade

Sohh 2001, looking for somewhere to go about Jay-Z v Nas so I searched for "rap news" and ended up sticking around for text battling then those damn aliases (suge knight,bobby brown) which evolved to an appetite for random tid bits of knowledge, foolishness and fukkery on all subjects that you just can't get from social media.

I heard a Chamillionaire freestyle on the radio and wanted to find out more about him but back then I didnt know how to search so I would just www.(whatever i wanted to search for). com and ended up on his Forum which was big for a unknown underground artist...it was the GOAT southern hiphop Forum

then AHH until someone started fukking with 4chann and they crushed the buildings then Sohh

started with gamefaqs in 1998, then moved onto the nas bbs from 2002-2005 , then to sohh in 2005, then here.

i felt at home on the nas bbs. we were like family. so much fukkery. i never fit in on sohh. folks were wack and different. its similar here but a lil better. i just never understood the tlr popular crowd/circle jerk. i fux with the real nikkas here tho​

I was in high school working this summer job in this office with some wierdos and girls from the girl's home. I found this rapmusic forum. That was back in summer 98 or 99, I wish I could back and read my thoughts back then.

It was 2009, and I was surfing the web, tryna get information on Blacks living in Panama, the Black women in particular. While surfing the web, I saw a comment on the topic, made by a half Black Panamanian sister, but I had to make an account on a particular site to join the discussion. That site happened to be Topix, which was one big mess. They didn't even implement an ignore option, and it allowed racist to constantly troll the African-American forum. One thing about those wicked sites where anything goes is, it's very hard to get banned, or to even get a warning. But that site was known for erasing post every now and then, made by brothers who shared too much information, like the rest of the sites do. They finally shut Topix down several years ago. I was long gone by then.

To answer the question, America Online was first but corporate didn't want to pay for, plus the toxicity that comes off these boards you can't promote, so they lets individuals handle it so that corporate can come back and mine the boards later.

Back in the fall of 2000 when i started high school. Aka.com was the first web forum i ever posted on. My first user name was www.wos.com or something else like that. I was on there at the time learning how to be a better writer when it came to writing raps at the time. Like sohh and on here, i didnt get along with most of the users on that forum, i would get into it with folks, say whatever and they eventually banned me. Discovered sohh after that..

Time is distant but a lot of shyt never changed in terms of what people are talking about. Same issues, same craziness. People are softer now if we keeping it a buck when it comes to the internet now. Im used to the wild wild west forum days when folks really gave no fukks.
