America is too big to fail. You can't defeat this country by military so all that's left is economically. That won't happen because America's economy affects the world globally. The 2008 crash proved that. American's consume to much. If we fall damn near everyone else will fall as well.

do you think they'll go out with a bang or with a whimper?

all great civilizations have to fall eventually

when america does, do you think they'll go down quietly? when in america's history has it done anything quietly?

Not sur if I would call the US (since you're taling about the US as opposed to "America") a civilization, more so an empire.

But anyway it will probably go out with a bang, which is a very scary scenario for the World and humanity in general, because there will probably be a period of creating yet another foreign "villain" to keep national cohesiveness as long as possible. Just look at the effects of Afghanistan (going back to the Soviet war there) and Iraq on the global scale, including in Africa now.

There's no way it will happen quietly any time soon, because the world is still dependent of goods being sold to the US (China: industrial goods, EU: services and goods, Arab world : Oil). Unless other areas of the world pick it up (a lot depends on internal consumption in emerging countries), the economic effects would be disastrous. That's why the Marshall Plan was invented after WW2 (the US needing clients in Europe), and that's why the rest of the world will keep on subsidzing US growth and deficits, because they need the US to keep buying their stuff, moreso than the other way around imo.

Which is why when China at its current rate of growth inevitably takes over economically a monumental shift in opinion and perception will occur. People do not realize how impactful perception is on the state of American dominance...its why this country spends 2-400 billion on defense, its why half of our major institutions can virtually collapse and reboot in 18 month span with no significant change in currency value.

The day china takes over watch an ever increasing shift towards other powers, not necessarily china exclusively but towards other emerging powers, brazil, eu, china, russia...usa wont fall off the map completely but you begin to see an even balance amongst the countries again...and that means given our current state of progress unemployment rise and wage decline like we havent seen in a long time.

We can alter this if we act now...but most of the country is complacent. Some even welcome this change and think its long overdue...ill let others determine that.

I don't think its a matter of America failing I think its more a matter of the global economy failing because they are so intertwined now.

It will be really interesting to see what's going on in the world one hundred years from now if scientists are underestimating global temperature rise and we see something like a 4-5 degree increase.

China doesn't create shyt though. They have no innovation. The U.S. still leads in that category. China and India have over a billion citizens but what is the output per person? Way more poverty in those countries.

What about crumbling from within? Internal dissent and civil conflicts?

Think about it. With global warming maybe happening, rising sea levels slowly drowning coastal cities like L.A., SD, and SF, diminishing natural resources like gasoline, food shortages, droughts, widespread epidemics and drug resistance diseases. It's possible for America to crumble from the inside out.

The problem is that these countries are rife with corruption. If they do become economic powerhouses, the wealth and influence will be concentrated in the hands of the few elite who run things aka the politicians. Civilians, rich or poor, won't have the type of freedoms and mobilities that we have here in America.

A 2011 CNN report stated that half of China's millionaires wanted to move out of China. Their #1 desired destination was... (drum roll)... The USA.

i don't think America can afford to continually subsidize its growing population of unproductive laggards.

maybe if we imported 10 million or so geniuses from East Asia and India to add balance
Need better immigration laws for that. Immigration laws that attract doctors, engineers, chemists, biologists, etc, not low wage/manual labor workers.

By no means am i saying China will become the exclusive dominate power...im saying that with their rise, others will rise and there will no longer be that reliance or perception of america being a unstoppable titan. For better or for worse That perception is the only thing that allows us to operate the way we do, and live way we live our lives. If you guys reminisce back to the early days of the recession, there was a brief period in time when no one wanted to exchange for our money in many parts of the world. Im not talking 3rd world countries or the axis of evil or some shyt, but places like switzerland didnt want to take our money. That didnt last to long because our economy is elastic and we quickly "stabilized".

Imagine a world were we no longer are the dominant economic powerhouse, and other countries believe they can do it without us, without our money, and then imagine another recession hitting. We are not gonna bounce back, because not only do countries not need our products but they dont need our money...

I guess what im sayin is, regardless of the corruption and innovation those countries have...they will now have INFLUENCE that will rival ours, along with a significant decline in buying power and currency value we have now.

I'll let others determine what they think that means for us and the world.

legalizing butt-sex was the downfall of Rome.

the end is nigh I'm afraid...How long do you think God will sit by and be mocked?

America is going away from what made her great and the envy of the world.

None of that matters anymore breh. Saying the U.S. is a superpower is like saying the queen of England. It's all for show. We're dealing with a global economy run by multinational banks. The U.S. is a major player in the game and will always be. less than half the population of China or India but consume way more. Allies and Enemies all have investments/interests in the U.S. Greed knows no borders.

I edited my post to include influence of u.s.

Yeah sadly i will agree corporations have hijacked alot of power. But many of those banks are us based and us run, so they still somewhat abide by us rules, and the us still has some ability to regulate them if they let them take their hands out their pockets.
