When a white hip hop head doesn’t listen to RNB is that a red flag?

Does that mean I have to like popular R&B made today (I don't really like or follow it), or if I have been a fan of Motown, to Funk, to true Teddy/Barry R&B, to new jack swing, to 90s and 2000s R&B, am I okay?

I mean the Wu-Tang Clan kicked off the second disc of Wu-Tang Forever with an entire rant about "Rap & Bullshyt," even after Method Man got the Wu's biggest hit off that exact type of shyt :pachaha: That anti-pop, r&b sentiment was heavy in early-mid 90's hip-hop.

"You can New Jack SWING from my nuts!"
I think RZA was more so fed up with his contemporaries doing those R&B influenced songs, especially Bad Boy around that time. All those sample flips from RZA makes it difficult for me to believe he wasn’t a fan of R&B.

I could have sworn that Rae said he and Ghost were fans of Lionel Ritchie/Commodores. I’m pretty sure Ghost mentioned being a fan of the Delfonics.

There’s no doubt in my mind that ODB was a big fan of Blues/R&B because his constant crooning.

I feel like it is. Lets not even talk about that feeling you get when you recognize an ill sample off some old 80's R&B joint...but if you're in tune with R&B you're in tune with soul...all the greatest emcees have that.

So a guy like Eminem has the technique down, but he sounds robotic coz he don't have that intangible shyt, that soul glow :ohlawd:

Prolly why most hiphop today these kids is making sounds robotic and formulaic.

White Hip Hop head? I stopped engaging with them types when I was 17 once I realised how racist/fetish-y and one dimensional their brains and opinions were.

And i've never met one that listened to rnb...too much black love and joy involved...

Of course it is a red flag, because hip hop is not a monolith and exists and is connected to other Black artforms..

Whites never respected the complete story of anything, they just pick and choose elements they like and discard the rest. thats how they fukked up world historical facts.

What are we calling R&B

Are you talking about segregated pop?

It's at least gotta be 90s but likely pre-90s
