anyone else get this on a frequent basis? girls are always asking me, "are you dominican?" I hit them with the : and respond in the negative. only she'll usually return, "oh, i thought you were. you looked it." seems to be a standard way for girls to hit good-looking light skinned dudes. anyone else get this? i get cape verdean a lot, too.

i could pull the half card, but i just tell them that i'm black. i've gotten puerto rican before. it's almost a self-hatred type of question, when you look at it. they find a dude attractive, asking him if he's of a non-black ethnicity, as if the idea of an attractive black male is unheard of.

how do you figure? it is a compliment, or a slick way for a girl to break the ice. so, how is me acknowledging that symptomatic of self-hatred on my end? females saying that shyt are the ones who are operating on a wavelength - however vague - of self-hatred. they see a light skinned black dude that looks a certain way, and they assume he's not an american black. how is that not self-hatred, if we're to conclude that they possess preconceived notions of how black males look?

and that's not why i created the thread. i was just talking about the basic game some females will throw at you.
