"Thrift Shop" is a fun song and serves its purpose whether it's a "great" song or not. People can hate but I willing to bet a lot of rappers wish they'd have made it first. He's no deep surgeon on the mic but dude has flow. That can't be denied. Can't knock that (personally).

Plenty of wack rappers with flow have made hit songs that folks actually clowned.

Remember when Lil Flip was that dude until folks found how corny he could be?
Remember when Asher Roth was on the scene? And Asher can rap. But folks don't give him a second chance after "I Love College" at all.

Can Macklemore rap? Yes, he can actually rap. But to be honest, he caters to people who really don't like hip-hop but can tolerate him. Basically, a young Eminem kinda crowd. The numbers say it all.

Average. But what I do like about Macklemore is the fact he's in the Independent lane. He released his album and "Thrift Shop" on "Macklemore LLC". That's dope to me. But the music isn't great. "Thrift Shop" blew thanks to White College girls.
