What's up with movies being 2hr 30+ now?

fukk. you gotta plan a whole damn evening or afternoon around these things. After looking at the meh reviews for Transformers and it being 2 hr 30mins I'm just gonna stream it in 6 months while I'm playing MyVegas and cleaning the house.

The first one I remember getting out of hand was Pirates 2. That damn movie was way too long. Now it seems like every blockbuster movie has to be at least 2 hours.

I'm not gonna see Godzilla because I don't want to wait 1hr and 40mins to finally see that b*stard tear apart a city.

The Raid 2? that was 2 hr and 30 mins? there's barely a story there.

X-men was 2hr 10 mins. ended just before shyt got to be too much. good balance of time.

I'm seriously turned off to movies being over 1hr 45mins. If it's any longer than that I need to be hyped and it needs some stellar reviews for me to see it.

i agree for the most part they need to edit movies under 2 hours. i get sleepy as fukk in the theatre.

All depends on the movie. Lately these action movies are teetering on being overlong. Transformers doesn't need to be almost 3 hrs and if so make it worth it not a snooze fest.

I agree, there is rarely a movie that needs more than 2 hours, especially not action flicks since the storyline is usually the first to suffer. First, theaters are cold a shyt, secondly, i don't have the attention span, third, i get fidgety, fourth, i usually am not just going to a movie, so it does take up a big chunk of time in your outing, last, it makes movie hopping harder....ain't nobody trying to be at the theater for 6 hours only having seen two movies

could be one of the perks for the director. let their ego have the long run time.

supposedly most of the highest grossing movies of all time tend to run long (even though that seems counter-intuitive to making as much money per screen as possible), so it could be a way to keep the filmmaker happy. just let them do what they do.

we now have summer action movies and comedies over 2 hours long.. its unnecessary.

that's why i like old movies..very rarely were they over 1 hour 40 min long (except some of the epics of the late 50s and 60s)

Some movies can overcome a long running time and remain enjoyable but my preference for a movie is 1hr 30min - 1hr 45min.
