It's actually a food reheater but didn't nobody in the black community, America or abroad used that shyt for that purpose because without proper Maintenance, that was always the first part of the stove that started rusting/flaking and was only used to keep extra pot lid covers and baking sheets.

I had no idea either but I figured if I put my pots/pans down there it would get fukked up....

We put glass lids for glass pots down there, if they got warm/hot, we never noticed

The flame that warms the oven is down there...

So if you're baking something and you want the top a little more cooked, place it on the bottom for a few seconds..
Especially a frozen pizza

....or if you haven't gotten around to buying a toaster yet.
