Isn't death what gives value to life? What would be the point of living forever, you'd eventually get bored out of your mind and dying would be what's most valuable.

Not a Christian bashing thread cause there are a lot of other religions that also promise eternal life. Why do we as humans place such a high value on living forever? Is this short term thinking or is there more to it?

scared of the unknown.

To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women

Well, according to the Christian passages there will be eternal happiness along with this eternal life. Being "bored out of your mind" indicates an unhappy setting, therefore, impossible.

Soooooooooo if you truly believe in Christianity you live forever, and also will be happy forever.

Living Forever Is Awesome - Television Tropes & Idioms

I used to think living forever would be boring too until I saw a flick called "The Man from Earth". Its about an immortal main character, John, who is over ten thousand years old. He explains that the way he experience life is no different than normal Humans. John describes it as only remembering the ups and downs. Not matter what our age, average people can only remember the "ups and downs". There's only so much we can retain, your capacity to retain information wouldnt increase with immortality.

Very interesting perspective :ohhh:
