I think peak oil. It's a known fact that we have already reached peak and probably have a good 50 years left. Humans ain't ready for that shyt

Viral pandemic

Word.

Some part of me already thinks the big firms have found a way to cultivate renewable energy and store it in small spaces. It's just a matter of securing patents and rolling it out when we NEED it in the most profitable manner.

Viral pandemic is the likeliest cause. I always think something similar to what happened in I Am Legend will come to reality. A "master cure" going severely wrong and wiping out 90% of the population. Don't think it will happen soon but it's due. Won't be difficult to spread overseas nowadays too.

Viral pandemic

Sent from Seattle, by way of Ann Arbor on Tapatalk: The Remix

Yup. People forget how viruses have devastated human populations in the past. We are the mercy of evolution and scientific/medical progress.

Less than 100 years ago, 50 million people died from a flu outbreak that infected 500 million. The flu is a minor virus compared to others.

The movie Contagion lays it out very realistically.

A new mutation of influenza can brutalize humanity if its moreresistant that what we are used to

Think of the impact to cities with nyc/shanghai/mumbai population density....Mumbai is literally twice as dense as new york which is already on some other shyt for density...if the Moose Flu, or a black plague/influenza colaboration dropped its curtains very quickly....

The most devastating pandemic was a BACTERIAL infection (the black plague) not a viral infection.

gonorrhea is now resistant to ALL antibiotics (except one injected AB), and that is one species on a growing list of multidrug resistant antibiotics.

Not only are the resistant to Antibiotics they are also resistant to Antibacterial soap, Hand sanitizer gel and even bleach. We are silently losing the war on infectious diseases.

I think the most likely doomsday scenario would be a freak mutation of a bacteria brought on by Antibacterial soap or Hand sanitizer.

Because of quarantines.. I wouldn't say a virus or bacteria would be doomsday. Easy wipe out 3 billion in 1 month, if the virus changes rapidly.. but I wouldn't say doomsday for all humans.

Peak oil.. Naw. I swear companies are always researching and putting things out there at the right time. We will once again surprise ourselves as a species.

We, for the most part, can predict asteroids and meteorites. 100 tons of meteorites hit the earth every day. We know days, weeks, and months in advance when an asteroid is going to fly right pass Earth. I feel like we will be able to see some sh1t coming and figure out a way to stop it. We're not going to just go out like that. We already can see hundreds of asteroids that will miss us for the next few centuries and it's only a few that could do doomsday damage. we got this Current Impact Risks

The change in weather and another ice age may wipe out humans, but not Earth. We will start over.

most realistic is a solar flare that hits one side of earth and kills all those people or we weaken the ozone layer and get hit by cosmic radiation and kill everything.

I think it will be a virus that gets leaked from a BSL4 lab (bio safety level 4 lab). Labs where they are taking the most dangerous patogens know to men and fukking around with their genetic code :snoop:

The 1918 influenze was extinct until it was resurrected in labs. Has to be one of the dumbest things science has ever done.

BBC News - Obama warns Syria chemical weapons use may spark US action

US President Barack Obama has said the use of chemical weapons by Syria would be a "red line" that would change his thinking on intervention in the crisis.

He said he had "at this point not ordered military engagement".

But he added: "There would be enormous consequences if we start seeing movement on the chemical weapons front or the use of chemical weapons."

Syrian Rebels Claim to Take Over Chemical Weapons - Middle East - News - Israel National News

The Supreme Military Council of the Syrian rebels released on a statement on Tuesday which said that the rebel forces took control of an army missile base in Damascus, in which ten ready-to-launch missiles were found. Some of the missiles, according to the statement, were converted to carry non-conventional warheads.

rockets ready for launching, with enormous destructive capability, and they were very surprised to find missiles that were converted to carry non-conventional warheads and which can be equipped with chemical or biological warheads,” said the statement which was translated by Arab affairs expert Dalit Halevi.

The Supreme Military Council of the rebels went on to claim that it had confirmed the report by examining photographic documentation of the scene.
