Mike the Executioner
What went on up there? Poppers and weird sex!
No Mercy 2007, where the WWE Championship changed hands three times in one night.
The late 2000s and early 2010s had several quick title reigns, but this was the epitome of that. John Cena was injured, so he was forced to vacate the title. Vince McMahon just gives the title to Randy Orton. Triple H comes out, challenges Orton to a match, and beats him to win the title.
Triple H already had a match with Umaga, so that match ended up being for the WWE Championship. Triple H wins and retains. Vince decides to put Triple H in a Last Man Standing Match against Orton for the title. Had Cena not been injured, it would have been him in this spot against Orton. Orton beats Triple H and wins the title back.
Way too much happened. What was the point of giving Orton the title and having him lose it if he was just going to get it back? Why have Triple H hold the title for two hours? Why have three title matches? They could have awarded Orton the title and he would have to defend it against the winner of Triple H/Umaga in the main event. They could have decided that there will be a new WWE Champion crowned in the main event, give Orton a spot since he was the #1 contender, and then Triple H and Umaga compete to see who faces him. Or they could have done a triple threat. Whatever the case, they only needed one title match.
