I don't even know if I should buy shares now or wait

the way the stock dividend works is that the GameStop's transfer agent computershare gives out the additional shares to shareholders on record and then distributes the rest to brokerages who request X amount. this process skips the market maker who creates synthetic shares providing unlimited liquidity.

some shareholders mostly in overseas brokerages are reporting that they've been informed it'll take days to receive their dividend shares. shareholders are also reporting that their shares are being sold and repurchased.

it's been theorized that the reason the share price is going down is because brokerages are selling gme shares on the open market and buying synthetic shares including the dividend amount they need in dark pools. the selling drives the price down while the buying through darkpools has little to no effect on price discovery.

now the 'dividend' shares some shareholders at few brokerages likely received are synthetic shares that were just bought from a market maker in a dark pool that will undoubtedly lead to an FTD(Failure-to-Deliver).

they found a way to kick the can a little longer, just not sure how much longer.

I was going to say, they will definitely be buying shares through the dark pool and selling. This will take longer…

The theft is so brazen. It’s clear they never held shares in the first place. and I’m positive this is widespread. This is so blatant that there’s no chance the GME community, as vocal a retail community there is, won’t pressure Cohen to respond. As Chairman, being beholden to the investors, he has to.
