What y’all think of this Lil Nas X cover of Dolly Parton’s Jolene?

Usually I gotta tell cacs to work on their delivery and add emotion. How did lil Nas fukk this classic up with his dead as a doorknob tone? :unimpressed:

I couldn’t be a celebrity. I’d be too honest. If I made a song and someone covered it and it was wack, I couldn’t lie. I’d tell ‘em it was wack and then have a whole bunch of people mad at me for telling the truth that even deep down inside they know :pachaha:

This I’ve heard better covers at karaoke. I gotta give it to Lil Nas though dudes only talent is getting social media sympathy and staying viral. His musical talent is non existent. Maybe he’s an ok songwriter.

Above the fray.
damn. I was sleep.

this makes me wonder how big of an influence country music is on genres like pop and rnb. if there is a bigger cross-genre exchange than people know about.

In the other direction of that exchange, a very popular R&B song got a country cover which became a hit. It was originally a hit for Tony Rich .

Kevin Sharp covered it.

The word exchange is treated like a dirty word on TLR, though. Threads get derailed when mention is made of exchange across Black ethnic/national lines when it comes to music, so dudes will be up in arms to acknowledge that there has been exchange between Country &Western and R&B and Pop.
Glad I have those members on ignore.

Ray Charles is one of those "prime numbers" when it comes to American music history, and he messed with C&W

:francis: All this nikka does is take up space, if he was actually promoting other artists than I'd think better.
