It seems like the more we find out about the REAL JR, Good Ol JR is anything but.

Only other person he prob hates more than Rude is Bart Gunn for knocking out Dr Death. :russ:

Don’t forget he was willing to throw his best friend Stone Cold under the bus on WWE television :russ:

You may have another plat thread concerning the real JR :wow:

Damn they were shootin back in 02:ohhh:

I was literally like :ohhh:when i first saw it..

That's before i knew about Raw taping shows

The bugged out thing is that one of my local tv channels at the time showed ECW an hour before Raw and Nitro came on. At the time, Rick Rude was doing color for Joey Styles and IIRC, he was also in Raven's nest.
The night Rude was on Raw & Nitro, he was also on ECW. Dude hit that historic trifecta.

Rude didn't leave over a contract dispute, he left because he was pissed about Montreal. He called Bischoff from the locker room that night looking for a job because after what he just saw go down with Bret, he wanted no part of the WWF anymore. Rude was old school and didn't like what happened one bit. The fact that he was only on a per-night deal is what allowed him to leave so quickly and show up on Nitro the following week. Mick Foley quit that night as well but was eventually talked into coming back.

JR is still a salty prick about it but I believe his beef stems from him claiming that he and Rude had a verbal or handshake agreement on a new long term contract then Montreal happened and Rude left for WCW, whether that's true or not, who knows. Rude did nothing wrong, it was just business.

Rude's appearance on both shows on the same night is definitely a memorable moment in the Monday night wars. It was another 'gotcha' type move from WCW who at the time was still kicking the shyt out of the WWF, sadly though, it was the only memorable thing Rude did during that whole run with WCW, IMO.

I know that's how the story goes with Rude leaving because of Montreal, but I think Montreal was the tipping point that showed Rude that he couldn't trust Vince. Even without Montreal, he would've taken the guaranteed money at some point in WCW rather than getting paid in cash every night in the WWF. WCW also allowed him to train for a comeback, which never happened because of his health & death.

Yeah, Montreal was definitely the tipping point for Rude, he considered Bret a friend and was never going to go along with a promoter screwing one of the boys. He cut a great promo on Nitro too..

It was probably the right decision to leave anyway. He was originally brought in as Shawn's bodyguard (insurance policy) but once he teamed up with Hunter and Chyna and formed DX, Rude wasn't really needed anymore. Plus, as you pointed out, WCW would offer more money (guaranteed) and would eventually allow him to train for an in-ring comeback.
