Ha! These were some of my last comics. Showing my age but I was graduating high school soon and my interests were uh exanding. Plus Marvel was getting greedy with the multiple covers for the same comic. I was losing interest fast around this time.

I stopped buyign around 96..
got tired of all the variant covers I needed to have and the all the #1 I had to have becasue you never knew if it was the "one"

Word, how many different Ghost Rider titles were there around this time? And you needed all the number 1s?

Image was the start of that Variant trend.. SpiderMan did it first... but Image took it to the next level...
I think what really made it popular was the Gen 13 variants... after that.. everybbody was doing them and they became to common and their prices dropped..

I remember only way to get a gold cover was at a show or if your were a dealer because they where included when you ordered a case for your store... thats how i got mine because a co-worker of my moms back then owned a baseball card/comic shop...

That was, IIRC, the final appearance of Luthor for a while. This was a month or so before Zero Hour. My child brain wasn't ready for that mess :mjlol:
