Da Storm is worth about 3.5 though. Damn near all of BCC albums are around there. Enta Da Stage & Nocturnal are 4s though. Da Shinin you could give a 4, but I wouldn't debate a 3.5

Rumor is Kim got 5 Mics because she smashed for them. Check out his Drink Champs. It's a solid album, but prob a 3.5 at best. But maybe you say a 4 because people vibed to it.

Be is Com's best album though...and I have every Common album in real-time...well not the last 2. But his catalog was a bunch of 3.5s and 4s...The Fix is a great album. While people say its not a 5 Mic album, 4.5 would be undebatable. I still think The Diary is his best, but Face was never slept on on East. Philly LOOOOOVES Face. And he's always seemed to have got love in NYC as well.

looking at these ratings as a grown up makes me think just how useless this fake gate keeping “mic rating” bullshyt era was :mjlol: shyt was literally meaningless.. the people are always going to determine what music stands the test of time

Edit: I'll throw in with everyone else saying those last few entries on the list don't belong with the others.

Also as far as the lower rated albums being better than the 5 mic ones, I remember reading an interview from one of the music editors from the time who said they deliberately held back from giving 5s all the time. They wanted their standard high, so you got a lot of 4s and 4.5s that in hindsight are easy 5s. They wanted to hold 5s for nothing less than perfection so when they'd give a 5 it would have some meaning to it.

At the time, some of these 4s seemed just right because there was so much quality music coming out every month. We had it so good back then.

Low key,I bumped Nocturnal waaay more than life after death when they both first dropped.

That album is still fukking incredible to this day.
