Avon crew was garbage at the bottom, Poot and Bodie was just cannon fodder, they had no brains to move up in the group at all, plus they used drugs, now i know someone is going to say Avon did not let his crew use drugs, but watch season 3 again, the place they took Cutty to, they were all drunk and high, those 2 bums Avon had thrown out of his coming home party at the club. Wee bay and the crew getting high and killing the stripper and also Bird got caught by the cops going to get high. Marlo's team did not touch that stuff. In season 3 when Marlo in the club, the girl ask him if he drink and he said hell no. Better team about all around. Marlo had Vinsom as consul and those old heads he played cards with to learn game.

The writers went overboard on building up Marlo and crew. It's like Chris and Snoop [and then Michael] were the only people in Baltimore with guns and shyt They'd be like, "Hey, let's go take a walk over here to these vacants" and nikkas was like "Sure " And they were murkin' New York nikkas without any fear of retribution?

And then the Co-op, a group of hardened gangstas and drug dealers, were ALL that shook by Marlo I know the writers wanted to make things as real as possible, but Marlo's whole rise to prominence seemed kinda

Word. Marlo is one of my most hated characters in TV history. Dude got so lucky its not even funny. fukk him.

but the Barksdale story season 1-3 is some near perfect TV.

As for the poll, ive gotta say the major contribution was the boy McNulty, they had been piling up bodies and holding real estate for awhile.

Poh-lice didnt even know who Avon was, soon as Mcnulty sits at the back of the court and see how the Barksdale drop it it started to crumble.

Avon sending D on that drop was a pretty big mistake as well...set off a chain reaction...that got alot of people arrested and killed. Which in turn shifted the balances of power within the organization and planted the seed of dissension.

That was because of how they handled wallace; plus, it was already unraveled by then imo...PLUS, they already helped him beat a case and killed a witness over it, AND they tried everything to stop it.

I suppose but McNulty never REALLY cared about avon. It was 100% about stringer bell. He hated that stringer outsmarted the bpd and HIM for years and showed him up repeatedly. He hated that he went legit and was "dissapointed" when he saw that he was clean and had the copy shop (obviously a front). Stringer was the only person that McNulty really thought was as smart as he. Arrogant huh?

Avon was Freemon's target.

yeah Jimmy was after Stringer, but either way they had been operating off the radar till Jimmy sat in on that case....
