Wow… where to start? I’m taking this back to the 56k/Y2K era.
So… the first message board I remember Ever joining was IGN. I’m sure I could still log into my account now. This was back in 2000. They had a main board called the Vestibule which was TLR light with mayonnaise.
I got banned from the hiphop section so many times because this was when Eminem Was at his peak popularity and there were so many CACs dikk riding him I had to put them in their place.
Someone on that board who was a Breh guided me to AllHipHop where it was apparently less “CAC-fied” and wow, that was a good time to post. 2001-05 with 50 cent beef, Nas & Jay-Z beef, crunk music… it was a pivotal time in music. Add Kobe’s rape case, Dave Chappelle Show, Michael Jackson allegations, Hurricane Katrina, Iraq War, 9/11… it was prime time fukkery.
From there, someone recommend BGOL, which felt more authentically black but that forum fell off too. I lurked SOHH and TheColi for a long time but didn’t post because I was in college then working during that period.
But it’s crazy to think there’s decades worth of my digital footprint out there. Thank god I’m still anonymous. I said some real flagrant shyt in my teens.
