Thats 🧢 and why we need more objectivity in these discussions.

BoTW was very innovative for its open world physics mechanics. the climbing and gliding combined with the stamina system also made traversing the world its own separate goal to accomplish.

the two most renown open world games before BoTW (Witcher 3, Skyrim) play nothing like Zelda.

That stamina and weapon breaking shyt were not additions to enjoyment, just annoyances.

Lots of open world games had a stamina bar and breaking weapons before BOTW.

It’s only “innovative” from a nintendo/zelda perspective.

They both have a stamina bar :usure:

It’s not the same and you know it but I’ll save myself from the contrarian arguments early.
Make a thread looking for “arguments” then run away from the actual “arguments” brehs :mjlol:

You tell me how BOTW was “innovative” for its climbing mechanics beyond something like shadow of the colossus that came out 13 years prior to botw.

I don't like the new open world Zeldas like that. I'd rather they just go back to being linear. Make em wide linear with maybe the mechanics of TOTK but inside of intricately designed dungeons.

I think BOTW was great for what it was as an open world game. Physics engine and letting the player choose what they want to do. TOTK basically just added elements to it. Though there isn't anything more I think they can do, and I think their developers know that. I fully expect them to go back to the Semi-open world game with a much more linear style approach.

This is really close if we factor BOTW. Both this gens Zelda and ER are not just 10/10s but maybe the best games ever. Leaps vs anything else. Elden even smashes RDR2 which is next best on PS4/5.

I think that Zelda edges it though. Elden still has rails in comparison. The climbing.. the use of the elements…yes Zelda wins.

Totk is a tedious game that doubles down on the flaws of Botw without improving any of the stuff Botw got right. One of my least favorite Zelda games :camby: Elden Ring is the better game easily
