BOTW > TOTK

TOTK goes in the Forbidden West tier of better technically, worse artistically than the predecessor. I had to force myself to finish TOTK

That was actually one of my major dissappointsmnets with the game. Outside of the tutorial islands the rest of them were just these little copy and paste things with no real mystery. Same with the depths.

the majority of the game still takes place on land in the same hyrule from the first game With different shrine locations. All the marketing leads you to believe the majority of game would take place in the skies and outside of the starting area and sky dungeon none of it is really important.

Nintendo gets credit for their games doing “new” things 10 years after everyone else has done them.

BOTW was only “innovative” if you have not played other open world games for the last 10 years or so.

Elden ring open world level design was something we had never seen before the game came out.

Thats 🧢 and why we need more objectivity in these discussions.

BoTW was very innovative for its open world physics mechanics. the climbing and gliding combined with the stamina system also made traversing the world its own separate goal to accomplish.

the two most renown open world games before BoTW (Witcher 3, Skyrim) play nothing like Zelda.
