What was special about Drive-In theaters? Why did they dwindle out?

90s kid here. I been to em a couple times, but only as a kid, so I didn't fully have a full blown experience. It's not hard for me to know what brehs was doing, especially if you had dark tints

The phrase Drive In Theater means Shaw Brothers martial arts films to me.

That was the name of the Channel 5 program that used to air them on Saturdays.

Usually you'd get two movies that were kinda similar so it'd be something like SPEED followed by True Lies. i was young as hell at this time but i remember it.

that's not even to get into the dating aspect. Much easier in the car

drive ins became a thing post ww2 when the Suburbs were born. Everybody had a car and niche businesses like drive ins took advantage of the ubiquity of cars.
