I know is very respected in the streets and came up with DITC along with being Big Pun's man, but as a MC would you consider him good? He was always mediorce to me and is more known for the features on his songs, I will say the production he uses is great, the way he went from boom bap NYC production and transferred for more coke rush smooth miami music is incredible, I would like to see him executive produce, someone's album

Not the most lyrical but he gets his point across in his verses. One of the best ears for production too, similar to Rick Ross. He can also sound well with other artists, for example.

And some of his solo stuff.

Basically my assessment of him. He gets too much hate on this site. At this point he's a legend with a very solid catalog and can still churn out dope music.

Respect to Joe's longevity, ear for beats and eye for talent, but considering the year in which he dropped his debut he always been passable/average compared to the talent that has come and gone since he dropped, but he gets the job done. Sometimes I feel like he is just screaming on the mic. I can't say I know many quotables from him off the top. His street rep and industry friends I guess helped him stick around for damn near 30 yers.

He gets the job done but I never really checked for him like that. Truth be told I think I only listened to one of his solo albums (Don Cartagena), which I enjoyed but nothing spectacular. After the TS years and when he started doing more "party/mainstream" joints I totally stopped checking for him. Hated Lean Back lol. But I wouldn't call him trash.

i dont mind him...but i wouldnt miss him, ya know?

its like the Outlaws on Pac tracks

when I think about Joe...i think cool beats, catchy hooks..classic hooks actually....couldnt really give you a bar of his..and his joints are always solid on first listen but then reach that point where they're played so much, im changing the station soon as it come on..and if i have an album cut in my library, its usually cause of a feature.

i respect that he's a legend but...he's a legend in a..."well, he made 10 all star teams, he a hall famer right?"... but when you look at it, he made those teams cause he was the 3rd guy on a contender putting up 14 and 8 and the rest of the forwards in the conference were wack

Average but obviously has classics under his belt.

With that being said me and several of the other brehs feel Eto or someone similar may have ghostwrote his verse on WSG's "Kelly's Korner". :patrice:
