Not movie producers but the theaters.

WB dropping a service with some other studios later this year that will let you stream movies (Non-blockbusters like Oscar movies) in theaters for $50.
They can get paid more off that then putting them out in theaters because the money goes straight to them.

I only go see a movie in a theater if it's something I'm dying to see, which is pretty rare, and even then I often won't go see it because of the expense.
