As with most things, it came down to money. They had a decision to make; “Do we want to pay $21 million per season or do we want to play $17 million per season?” They chose the cheaper option while drafting what they believe will be Buckner’s replacement.

That’s just the reality of the salary cap world. They got something in return so it’s gonna be what it’s gonna be. They saved $4 million save can spend, or spent, that money elsewhere.

It was dumb. You pay for talent that can stay on the field. It wouldn't have been an issue is they let bum ass Ward go.
