Oh god here we go with the high horse shyt :snoop:
What’s wrong with praising where we come from? If you ain’t from the hood this question doesn’t apply to you
Absolutely nothing wrong with being proud of where you from. I'm from the 7th ward New Orleans. Let's be real tho I'm not on no high horse because I'm calling shyt for what it is. Nobody talks bout "oh I came from the struggle, so it taught me to work hard and appreciate what I have". Nope most people act like it makes them hard, or some type of scary mufukka just cause they from the hood.

That’s crazy becuz I always hear successful people who grew up in a rough area say that where they come from helped shape who they are. It gave them character and survival skills they may not have otherwise. That they know they can go anywhere and make it

It's wack, it's sad actually because I know alot of black folks that equate a hood mentality means your "black". So alot of times you have black folks that not hood or from the hood doing dumb ingnorant shyt, just to get validation from there own.

So true,

I know so many regular black kids from good stable homes who threw their life away trying to be some street nikka.

I myself almost fell prey to the dumb shyt despite never needing to.

Above the fray.
I can’t recall the last 20 times breh:heh:

But I will say that just as recent as nye somebody I know who flips property was talking about starting a non profit that would help low income families in the hood become homeowners

Homeowners elsewhere, right? Helping them leave the hood? In that context, isn't the term "hood" a negative?

Nope. Homeowners right in the hood. There’s a ton of vacants here owned by the city. If you know the right people you can get your hands on some. This person’s goal is to allow people to own property in their own areas and also to keep white folks from coming in and gentrifying

Me too but this place is weird sometimes. Some of these blacks almost to remind me of whites that went to visit "the hood" because all they do is negative stereotype like a bytch. It is like these nikkas never see the positive everything some negative shyt that they always happen to be the opposite of. I think these clowns just stayed on the porch even if they lived in these neighborhoods. Nobody that actually gets out and lived in these areas seem to be as stereotypical as these clowns you mainly run into online.

The hood isn’t even glorified

I loved snow on the bluff because it was so grimy and if that was the popular depiction I feel like not as many nikkas would chase it

I feel like consumerism and being cool is magnified in the Black community
Much more than anywhere else

ok. If he puts those words into action, I'd have no choice but to tip my hat to him.

Well nobody glorifies anything they aren’t proud of. Growing up in rough circumstances and surviving is most certainly something that should be glorified

Surviving doesn't mean thriving. That is where a lot of people get lost and confused. Why would you want those same long periods of struggle be a recurring theme of your life? Why won't people dream about OVERCOMING those struggles and make life easier for OTHER people outside of themselves, to make their community a better place? Why don't people prepare wealth and assets belonging to wealth to enhance their children, grand children, and great grandchildren's lives that ain't even born yet? :jbhmm:

Its like people are conditioned to never conquer the demons within and be content with mere "survival". Nah, I wasn't raised like that and I didn't have much material items grow up.
