This song was a first of firsts though. Wasn't this Dre's first time working with an East Coast artist and more specifically attempting an East Coast sound for an East Coast artist? This was definitely Nas's first time working with a West Coast producer if I'm not mistaken. It didn't sound bad, but it's not a sound I associate with Dre. He had better results on The Firm album. "Nas Is Coming" is a bit overproduced. It sounds overly cinematic. The song sounds dope when listening to the album in full because they seamlessly transition it into "Affirmative Action" (this sounds more Dre than "Nas Is Coming").

Song is horrible...not cuz Nas tho, he worked within the landscape he was given

All Dre had to do was some boom bap with some bass heavy funk elements, coulda been dope...like Watch Dem N*** or Take It In Blood

Intro, hook and beat are all weak af

My most skipped song on IWW

Low key Dre was producing some garbage post death row. He’s lucky guys like Storch, Mike Elizondo, and Mel-Man saved him

Some of his production pre Chronic 2001 was garbage, but those guys didn't exactly save him. "Phone Tap" was dope as was "Firm Fiasco". There's also Snoop's No Limit Top Dogg, which had 2-3 Dre tracks that were just as good as 2001 and those had no co-producers in the credits. If anything, nobody would even know who Storch, Elizondo, or Mel Man were if not for Dre. Storch was The Roots keyboardist. Elizondo wasn't even doing Hip Hop and Mel Man was relatively unknown.

I never did like that song. I hate the beat and the hook. So as soon as I hear that intro I skipped to the next track.
