I want deny that..... but still more entertaining then seeing the guy;
constantly stare at the hard cam,
walk slowly around ring while one guy is down,
do the same rest hold move as guys from previous match,
do spot where both guys lay on ground for mins while ref checks,
Kick,
Punch,
False pin

Martha

The real problem isnt the moves that the guys use, its that the guys are just boring human beings. The Rock didnt do any cool moves, but he led the crowd with his charisma and mannerisms. The Rock's working punch is more over than Ricochet flipping around. Think about it, back in the day as a kid you could mimmick a bunch of wrestlers working punches with your friends, everyone had a unique way of throwing one that was memorable and got over. Not only that, but Rock aint gonna hurt himself (or his opponent) doing his punch as opposed to doing a 630 senton. Just look at the peoples elbow......a basic elbow drop got THAT over because the Rock made it what it is. Why do people forget what greatness is? Sidebar that none of the current wrestlers even know what a punch is. It has been replaced by concussion inducing forearms. Less charisma, more real violence. That trade off is weak and only appeals to hardcore fans who think they understand 'technical wrestling.' Brehs its supposed to be fake.

We gotta seriously stop forgetting that wrestling is supposed to be entertaining. Since nobody has charisma now, they try to make up for it with stiffness and acrobatics. Ratings are down, and injury rates are up. Not a good look for the performers or the TV viewers.

Lucha Underground does their best to hide the weaknesses. Ricochet didnt even talk until near the end of the second season, and they hired a real actor to play the owner....and guess what....Dario Cueto >>> everyone else on Lucha Underground and he hasnt had one match. :wow:

Everything becomes boring and meaningless when you do it too much, including specially the type of flippy shyt shown in the gif :manny:

That is another big problem as to why match quality is irrelevant. We have seen it all. So now when they do AJ vs KO, smart marks go :krs: , casual fans are watching Game of Thrones on HBO go cause who gives a fukk... and then the match happens and the smart marks are chanting for Corey Graves cause the match is :flabbynsick:

The fans dont actually know what they want. They think they want 5 star meltzer matches, but actually fukkery and good stories is what gets you interested. Austin in a first blood match against Kane type shyt. Rock tossing the title in the river. chainsaw charlie chainsawing shyt backstage chasing the Outlaws.... The real shyt that stays in your memories isnt the move sets and the match quality. Its the moments.

No I get that but its like the era has changed

Like if I had to compare it to movies.... back then the wrestling was like this

or this

And yes in that time it was exciting. I mean I was even before the Rock and Brett Hart stan and if I watched a match with Brett and Doink the clown or Aldo Montoya those matches were interesting to me.

But if today that match went on in that style or the equivalent would be maybe AJ Styles vs Titus O'Neil, I couldnt watch that match.

Where a lot of the LU, Indie stuff is like

or

The world has evolved man, just like in a blockbuster to regular current action movie that styled we loved back then is out of date and cant work today. Especially in large portions.

I think there can be a happy medium. There's nothing wrong with smarks wanting quality matches when they spend 9.99 every month. On the other hand, the storylines on Monday and Tuesday need to be top notch to entice any casuals.

It's hard to buy "it's a different era " as an argument when the ratings are down 75 percent. that gimmick "it's a different era" is part of the reason why nobody watches anymore. " but people watching on the dvr, it's a different era breh".... Game of thrones just broke tv ratings with their recent season finale, and you gotta pay extra for HBO. Good tv will be watched.

Twenty years later in a different era, different generation of humans, the Rock still over as hell. Meanwhile wrestling is on life support. You ask someone in the street who's your favorite wrestler....everyone still will say attitude era guys. Younger generation just won't answer cause they don't fukk with wrestling. That's the reality of this "different era"

Step outside the wrestling bubble brehs. Think about why you like your fav tv shows then think about how much of that doesn't exist anymore in wrestling.

:what:

Michinoku Pro and AAA were doing amazing flippy shyt 25 years ago. fukk out of here with "evolution". shyt, Dragon Gate were doing stuff just as "incredible" as Ricochet and Ospray a decade ago.

And there's stuff from the 70's that has as much quality as stuff from today and still works.

Spotfest only work ins spurts, Ricochet and Ospray have worked 4 times against each other and their shyt has already gotten old. That's no evolution breh.

In all fairness.....

To support your case do you respectfully mind showing me a match from 25 years ago equal to that Ricochet Osprey match?

Also to breh that mentioned 2017 Game of Thrones. Could you convince me and any of us that 1959 period time piece movie Ben-Hur in its same form could stand up in today's era?

Or 1950s Spartacus vs 2010 Spartacus?
Or could the classic Planet of the Apes stand up to the current?

Like literally if the dropped the classic today would people have loved it?

Trust me, the era does effect a lot of shyt. We can't just casually dismiss it, like someone said some time ago..... a pile driver, basic ddt, and body slam was a finishing move..... now we got guys getting up from powerbombs

With that said..... there's room for most of it if not all on a card.

The key thing is "that was a Ricochet/Osprey match..... but I don't think that whole card was like that.

I think variety is a great thing,,,.. I don't wanna see 3 hours of talent back to back telling the same story every week.

What people are forgetting or discounting about the attitude era was there was a variety.

The shows and cards would have;
A submission match,
A Cruiserweight match,
A Brawler match,
A Technical match,
A Hardcore match,
A Grudge Match,
A Main Event style match

And so on and so on with different vibes.

Not allowed to bleed, only Cena, Roman and Brock can curse, and only a select few are allowed to talk without a script.
