What season does Dexter fall off?

I wont fault you for watching season 5 after how 4 ends... But trust me DO NOT GO PAST SEASON 5... AND WHATEVER YOU DO, DONT FINISH THE ENTIRE SERIES

I wish someone was there for me with this advice years ago

Dexter is responsible for getting me back into television (serialized) & it's a shame how terrible it ended.

Seasons from 1-4 were basically great. There was plenty of excitement and thrill...the ending of Season 4 was whoa...

Seasons 5-6 shows the deterioration of show. It has its moments and it's not bad, but far from what it used to be.

Seasons 7-8 are trash. You will watch it, because you'll want to know why you've been watching it for so long. However, the ending is so bad that you'll regret it.

Season 5 has 2 of the top 10 episodes of the series though

And season 7 was a great "comeback" season


But yea i agree. Watching the rest of the series after season 4 isn't worth the few highlights when u compare it to how bad the series become.




nikkas really try to rewrite history like Dexter wasn't the number 1 show doing it the first 2 seasons.

Yall can believe what yall want to believe but first 2 seasons of Dexter>First 2 seasons of breaking bad.

As for this thread, I'm at the middle of season 6 and still enjoy this show

I consider stopping after season 4 but I'm glad I kept watching


IDK why this show gets so much hate after season 4, IMO season 3 was kinda weak

I totally predicted Dex and Miguel relationship turning sour and Dex would end up killing him

Also I the only one that doesn't see the big deal about the season 4 finale, IMO the season 1 swerve >>>>> the season 4 swerve.

Season 4 could work well as a final season if you consider how trash the last season came full circle

and tbh Dexter season 4 was one the GOAT seasons in TV history

Once they catch the 'Bay Harbor Butcher' you should stop watching. It wraps up everything in the main arc. Anything after that starts into the next (and rather subpar) new arc.

Season 5 had potential, but they wrapped the story up too quickly. They had the chance to create a new and psychotic Dexter closer to how he was in the book. They had all the elements to make it happen and it would have been justified.

They should have combined the story in season 6, 7, and 8 as one season. Maybe two. People forget Deb found out Dex was a killer in season 6, LaGuerta was killed in season 7, and season 8 was forgettable but showed Dexter was manufactured due to Harry Morgan and the Psychiatrist giving more back story.

Take the best parts from season 6, 7, and 8 & the show was could have put something decent for a final 6th season.

Show had no interesting villains in season 6, 7, and 8 which also hurt the show severely.

Spoiler at the bold breh! I never expected her to die thought if anyone lived the entire series it would be her, Batista and Vince.

I'm pretty close to Deb finding out about who Dexter really is speaking of those two I was like when I found out the actors that play them were married IRL.

I actually liked the villain in Season 6 too. This scene is still memorable to me if not a bit absurd but it made sense in the context of the killer's religious motive.

I liked Mos Def's character arc in Season 6 too. There were some good ideas sprinkled in the later seasons but the execution soured the overall package. It was like they didn't know how to end it. Also Hannah is one of the most bland characters ever to be introduced on the show. Dragged it down more and more, I legit didn't give a fukk about her but she kept showing up.

Season four ends in a way that leaves you with questions unless you watch season 5...6....etc

The first arc (Bay Harbor Butcher) lasts the first few seasons.
So once it wraps, it ends pretty cleanly. But if you start the next arc (the ITK arc) you either gotta sit through bs later seasons, or quit and have questions.

I agree that season 4 is on of the best seasons of the show... but once you start season 4 you are gonna be roped into 5, 6, etc.
