Labels don't have the identity they used to have anymore, where there's this signature mold for quality or a fit. I think Stalley being on MMG is proof of that. People are just signin' whoever their fans of now. Back in the day, cats brought in dudes who would be a good fit for the roster. Today, if a dude likes your music, he'll just sign you off of that.

We're not really in a record label pushed industry anymore. It's more about the artist now, as opposed to who they're signed to. Back when Ruff Ryders was runnin' shyt, you could drop any album, and it'd generate some interest. Roc-a-fella was another one. Nowadays, people want songs and artists. They don't care who the person is signed to. I remember when Def Jam had a West Coast label, and cats were try'na cop whoever was on that, just because of the logo. Times have changed.

Yeah, Master P is the best example of a record label thriving off of a name and being able to release albums from the vast majority of it's artists and those artists going either going gold or platinum with some of them (lesser known "stars" or names) having little to no promotion.

P had that sh*t on lock for quick minute. :wow:

big mase fan here, he's one of the greatest rapper to ever do it. and one of the most influential on rap tip. His flow is one of kind. but yall know that. i could write a whole page on how great mase is.

i dont think there's any label or movement right now for mase to be a part of. I was thinking GOOD Music, but you got kanye who isn't really involved like that for his artists and got other shyt going on. It's like he got some good talent over there but he dont really give a fukk. But GOOD Music is a safe label.

I think OVO would be a great fit, he gonna have Drake the hottest rapper in the game, who together they can make some dope ass shyt, and Drake will actually help.

So i say OVO

that's exactly what he wants

I thought GOOD music was the label that fit the best, however I just don't see it anymore. He'd prolly go best with MMG at this point. Mase can still spit and has a buzz to his name. The problem is that he isnt consistently out in the spotlight as if he really wanted to make a comeback.
  • He's on the new LEP Bogus Boys sibgle, but not in the video??? Great move!
  • Do the rounds of morning interviews, but drop no new song for them to rock with?? Great move!

lol those are lyrical masterpieces! niccas will be stuyding those lyrics decades from now. the subject matter is so diverse, hell the message that he is delivering is just so potent. its so hard to write about flossing and fukking bytches in 90% of your raps.

:stopitslime:

i use to love mase for what he brought to the game. harlem world is my shyt. but lol i never considered dude lyrical or a great writer :russ: what made him so popular was his image, delivery, voice, and flow. oh and of course his affiliation with puff.

Well it depends on what you consider "powerful music". Just because a rapper isn't a conscious rapper like say a Mos Def, doesn't mean what he raps about isn't less of relevant to the game. A n*gga can still be important to the game if what he's bringing to the table is unique. Every talented and or unique rapper who fits into a certain subgenre of Hip Hop brings something to the table that helps to keep Hip Hop an interesting genre of music.

I'm not saying what Ma$e rappers about is on the level of "this n*gga" or "that n*gga", I'm just saying what HE does is excellent. He's talented for what he brings to the game.
