He was important, but he played for one of the most stacked teams in the history of the sport of football in a cutting edge Norv Turner offensive system with arguably the most accurate QB in the league at the time throwing to him. We measure WRs by how many rings they have?

Tim Brown was playing on that garbage ass stuck-in-the-70's Al Davis dinosaur offense and beasting opposite a bunch of track stars who can't catch or run routes with Jeff George and Jeff Hostetler throwing to him.

Cris Carter has OVER TWICE AS MANY career touchdowns than Irvin. He only played 5 more seasons.

Michael Irvin gets grossly overrated because of the team he played for, his personality, and his profile.

Ummm yeah, if you are a major reason why a team wins 3 championships it counts for something.

Norv was OC for 3 years. Irvin's best years came after Norv left too.

Tim Brown was playing on that garbage ass stuck-in-the-70's Al Davis dinosaur offense and beasting opposite a bunch of track stars who can't catch or run routes with Jeff George and Jeff Hostetler throwing to him.
the "go deep" offense... the irony is that Irvin has a higher YPC than Brown.

Cris Carter has OVER TWICE AS MANY career touchdowns than Irvin. He only played 5 more seasons.
lol at "ONLY 5 more years" like thats nothing. That sounds like something Willard would say, lol

He played 75 more games than Irvin too.

Michael Irvin gets grossly overrated because of the team he played for, his personality, and his profile.
nah, he was the 2nd best WR in the 1990s. You just have some fukked up notion that he isnt.

and I say this as a Redskins fan who hated that dude when he played.

Lets not forget that Irvin played during an era where corners and linebackers could basically ride your back until the ball was in the air.

These corners today aint trying to see a nikka like Irvin and you cant even touch him.

he didnt go in first ballot

and Irvin was a better WR than those players

on top of that, Irvin played almost 100 games less than those guys and wasnt the focal point of his team's offenses. You can say, "well that shows Irvin aint shyt," but Irvin played on the best team of the 1990s while those two played on mediocre squads most of their careers.

He wasn't 1st ballot? If so, I stand corrected. But he shouldn't be in 1st or 2nd while Carter and Brown wait year after year. And he was not better than them. People forget how explosive and unstoppable Tim Brown was in his prime. Or maybe they didn't know because the Raiders sucked then and nobody watched them. He was facing double coverage, garbage QBs, and no help and still having 1200-1400 yard seasons. He was the total package...excellent route runner, a possession receiver that was fast and could take it all the way if he got in the open field.

Cris Carter is also better than Irvin...better hands, better route runners. Cris Carter wasn't the focal point when Randy Moss got there, but he was still putting up 12 and 13 TDs in a season! Irvin never had more than 10 TDs in a season.

There's very little doubt in my mind both of them are better than Irvin and would've had more productive on the Cowboys offense than Irvin.

Michael Irvin is 2nd most overrated WR in history next to Lynn Swann, so probably quite a few. If he didn't play for "America's team," he would never get in the Hall period much less be a 1st balloter.

Terrell Owens
Jerry Rice
Cris Carter
Randy Moss
Sterling Sharpe
Tim Brown
Larry Fitzgerald
Andre Johnson
Calvin Johnson
Steve Smith
Marvin Harrison
Isaac Bruce

Maybe a few more.

Ur crazy.

And ALL those guys you listed played in pass happy schemes.

Irvin played on a squad with the all-time leading rusher, and opposite a deep threat in Alvin Harper, and a much used TE in Jay Novacek.

He made plays, big catches, big gains, big 1st downs, big TD's when needed....hence his name The Playmaker.

Why do nikkas say this? Am I missing something? Teach me brehs. Statistically he ain't the most accurate sans one year. Even then he only had 15 td and 6 int

None of what you said is an argument for why Irvin SHOULDNT be in, thats an argument for why Carter and Brown SHOULD be in.

And he never had more than 10 TDs in a season, even in the pass happy Chan Gailey offense. Why couldn't "the playmaker" ever get more than 10 TDs in a season since he was supposedly a notch below Jerry Rice? :comeon:
the "go deep" offense... the irony is that Irvin has a higher YPC than Brown.
Yup...the stuck in the 70's garbage ass "go deep" offense with a weak-armed Jeff Hostetler that couldn't go deep, the worst running game in the league, and track stars who had no business playing football opposite of him.
lol at "ONLY 5 more years" like thats nothing. That sounds like something Willard would say, lol

:rudy: You're going to have to learn arithmetic, like Bill Clinton said. 5 season is nothing when you consider than Cris Carter had OVER DOUBLE MICHAEL IRVIN'S TOUCHDOWNS!

Cris Carter-130 TDs

Michael Irvin-65 TDs

Cris Carter didn't play over twice as long as Irvin, did he? Okay then.
nah, he was the 2nd best WR in the 1990s. You just have some fukked up notion that he isnt.

No he was not. You were just a kid then and you saw him on TV playing against your team making big plays a lot. You were not an objective, knowledgeable analyst. Michael Irvin is overrated as fukk...probably the most overrated player of the last 20 years of football. He was not better than Tim Brown, Cris Carter, or Isaac Bruce. You can't even support your argument with anything except, "but he was."

Weakest arguement so far "he played on a loaded team". fukk outta here breh, Michael Irvin being there is one of the reasons why they're considered loaded. You take him away and all you have is the Priest Holmes era Chiefs.

He had a role and played it well. When his number got called he MADE THE PLAY.

Lot of nikkas played on loaded teams and still couldn't get the job done, #88 did.

I didn't say Irvin shouldn't be in. I'm saying based on the criteria they use to put people in the HOF, he does not have near the credentials Carter and Brown have. I think all 3 deserve to be in though.
