Kendricks delivery is A1. It is hit or miss sometimes though. I like songs like Squabble Up because of his delivery, but I cant get into Reincarnation cuz I feel like he's overdoing it imo

But the funny thing about that comment is that half of his songs got no "quotables" but his delivery is what makes him "lyrical". You gonna say on Not Like Us, his delivery was bad? A song that everyone is rapping along to?

To answer your question, Hollow Da Don. That man has probably never consciously breathed into his diaphraphm

Anybody that deliver bars in a monotone voice(hate when rappers sound sleepy on the track like they don't want to rap) and also Hopsin :scust:

Delivery doesn't make you lyrical.

Above the fray.
Im not the biggest Talib fan, but this is a helluva reach.. I mean really
In Blackstar threads, I tell people that on paper , Kweli was dragging Mos Def.
It's not really apparent because their deliveries are different. Mos coasted because he has great delivery, but he was getting dragged.

I disagree. Emotions you express that can help listeners empathize can craft and enhance the meaning of a verse.

The definition of lyrical in the artform of poetry, music, and literature is simply "expressing the writer's emotions in an imaginative and beautiful way."

We're talking about rappers/MCs, taking literal definitions that apply to other artforms (and I can't even find that definition in Merriam-Webster) is disingenuous. Lyricism takes on a different definition in hip-hop.

Delivery gives a rapper something else to offer in the totality of song making but does not make them lyrical.

Even though he is goat status, Curren$y.

Particularly in the early days he never seemed to quite rhyme in the pocket; his bars seemed to veer off beat. In itself it never bothered me too much but if he was rhyming with say Wiz their was a wide gap in flow even if Spitta was saying better shyt.

He's gotten a lot better now though.
