It's an extension so it basically keeps him on the roster for this and next season. It's cheap enough to not feel obligated to start him but it kinda tells us the FO either doesn't think a starting caliber RT is realistic via trade or they want him on the roster in case whoever we draft isn't ready to contribute early (or is a bust) :francis:

Yep, so that’s around $4.5M guaranteed

We gotta see how the cap hits shake out, but $4.5M isn’t much for a starting RT who played every game on a SB team. We all know McKivitz isn’t great, but it’s not like he’s making McGlinchey money. He’s making closer to swing tackle money

Hopefully they can upgrade in the draft tho

More than the money, the deflating part is that it doesn't seem there's a lot of options to truly improve in that position and the FO is acknowledging that with this move.

front office gets too attached to familiar players because they know the system and have some familiarity. unless they piss off kyle, these dudes always overstay their worth
