This is what the owners want. They would rather overpay decent to good players and have a level of certainty with everything being slotted than play the top guys what they are truly worth and actually have to think.

Draymond def done played his way out of a max contract :mjlol: DeAndre isn't a true max player either. Only true max players are Durant Bron Harden Westbrook and Curry
I looked over this post 3 times without seeing AD name

I saw Curry, I saw Harden, Westbrook, etc, didn't see AD

Did you forget AD or...

In 2015 were talking about DeAndre Jordan, Tristan Thompson, Draymond green being MAX players. :scust:

LeBron is a max player, Russ/KD are max players, etc.

What happened and who brought the bar down like this? :dwillhuh:

I'll take the L with Draymond for right now......but I told y'all about Tristan Thompson.

Depends on the years and how much u made the previous contract for max deals

It's why Kobe made over 30m for a year

Yup, it's also why people think Durant will(and should) resign for one year with the Thunder as then he'll get the 10 year max the following year which is worth a lot more.

The way the NBA markets it's stars, having even a medium level name with high public perception can be a huge advantage in jersey/ticket sales:manny:
Especially in the right market:whew:

During the lockout in 1998. nikkas was mad that the Wolves gave Kevin Garnett a 6 year $126 million contract after 2 seasons in the league, and that was pretty much the cause of the lockout.

Owners were worried that the Wolves were handicapping themselves and they wouldn't be able to sign good supporting players due to a lack of cap space. They knew if they didn't stop it right away, that it wouldn't stop.

In hindsight, once you think about how Marbury forced his way out of Minnesota because they were trying to be cheap with him and the whole Joe Smith, under the table contract ordeal, combined with the fact that KG always had a garbage supporting cast until they got Sprewell and Sam Cassell for that one season, those "hater owners" were right.

Wrong. Marbury forced his way out because he didn't wanna be there anymore and he felt he wasn't gonna get paid the same way as KG.

When he signed with Jersey, he earned a total of $8 mil more than what Minny offered him.

Rashard got an insane amount of money, but this is hindsight talking.

27 years old in his prime averaging 22 and 6.6 and Orlando needed a sidekick for Dwight.

He just had crazy mileage on him by 30 like Jermaine O'Neal
