The fastest way to get lean and big is to do one big long bulk and then do one long slow cut. That bulk/cut cycle shyt is for the birds... damn near every natural bodybuilder with size I can think of dirty bulked at least once. It's a necessary evil
this.
90% of gym goers dont even need to be talking about "bulking" and "cutting" anyway. shyts really just for experienced lifters with a detailed diet. for whatever reason everyone that goes to the gym nowadays feels like they either need to be on a bulk cycle, or a cut cycle. i heard this dude today, "i'm going to bulk up for the next 4 weeks...then start to cut for summer" like
nikka all you are going to do is gain 5lbs then turn around and lose it immediately. you're going to look the exact same as you do now 6 weeks from now.
i feel like people would see their results much quicker if they just focused on trying to gain muscle, or trying to lose fat...and sticking with that program. you'd be surprised on how well your goals will fall in line if you do this. the example i gave above was a friend of mine...hes skinny-fat. thin all over, with a big gut. so he wants to put muscle on his arms and chest...then lose his stomach. i already told him just lift heavy and eat heavy with lots of protein. he would add tons of muscle and his body fat percentage would go down naturally. but nikkas dont wanna listen. his head went
as soon as he heard "eat more" and "will lower your body fat percentage".
i suppose im technically on a bulk right now. my goals are strength based, im not as concerned with weight. but they kinda go hand and hand. anyway, i'm going from 190lbs to 220lbs. once i hit 220lbs i'll asses what my overall body composition is like before i decide if i want to cut fat or not. obviously the problem is when i try to cut fat, i inevitably end up cutting muscle as well so thats the dilemma.
