you ever see him speak outside of the field :usure:

yea, my point is that I dont think kids coming in wanna hear a motivational speech and base their decision on it...imo its more of a 'what can you do for me' type of deal.

Been hearing this for the past 3 years. I never hear shyt about Calhoun, Coach K (Cory Magette, the 100k loan for jewelry) or UNC (Making up completely fake classes for its athletes to get A's in)

It's amazing that you can turn 15 mostly impoverished men into millionaires and do insane amounts of charity work and still be viewed as a crook.

What exactly makes Coach Cal a crook? D rose not taking his SAT's? Marcus Camby taking 28 grand from sports agents? What exactly did Calipari have to do with any of these things?

If you think the NCAA isn't watching us 24/7 then :russ: the NCAA hates kentucky.

They're banned from the NCAA tournament. I don't think I made my point clear, I hear people complain all the time about how Coach Cal is "shady" or a cheater but I never hear shyt about other programs that get caught, like UCONN. No one was ever going around saying "Jim Calhoun is shady and a cheater!"

you said you never hear shyt about calhoun. Im just showing you there is shyt out there.

Calipari's pitch is "I want you, but I don't need you. I can help you accomplish your dreams and make it to the pros, but it's going to be the hardest thing you've ever done and I'm not promising anything."

He takes a "straight shooter" approach to recruiting. Some recruiters try to impress the recruits. Coach Roy Williams took 12 of his college bball rings that he has won in a case and showed them to Julius Randle after a report came out that Calipari was wearing his championship ring during an inhome visit. Julius Randle cut UNC from his list a few weeks after.

I think each coach has his own approach and angle. How does Baylor's coach get the recruits he does? He's :trash:

John Calipari aint sayin shyt to the kids, it's his connect with World Wide West thats gettin him all these recruits.

Like what makes them better than any other coach?

For example, When Mark Gottfried was here we got every Mr. Basketball in the state and we even got Earnest Shelton who was Mr.Basketball in Tennessee.

Now he is at NC State and he is recruiting well there.

But, he is a horrible coach who's teams never play smart.

Anybody here ever been through the recruiting process?

From personal experience, what makes acoach a good recruiter is:

His ability to portray a level of excitement of the program (televised games, espn, nat'l titles, famous alumni, celebrity contributors)

His ability to gt the recruits parents to trust them (education, degree etc)

His ability to convince the kid that they have a good opportunity to go pro

His ability to sell the glitz & glamor of the campus/school

I was recruited heavily and the schools that had the biggest influence on my decision were the schools that were tight with my parents and convinced me that I had a good shot at playing early
